Carlo Reyes, MD, MS, JD, FACEP
Personal Profile
Dr. Carlo Reyes is an accomplished emergency room physician with over two decades of medical practice, and was an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Departments of both Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at Olive View/UCLA. Dr. Reyes has advocated for rights of patients with chronic and terminal conditions for over a decade, and served as a Board member of the Ventura County Coalition for Compassionate Care to promote the adoption of POLST (Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment) documents. He worked with the state of California to refine the requirements for an electronic POLST, soon to be universally adopted throughout California.

Beyond his medical career, Dr. Reyes is also an attorney, member of the California Bar, and has contributed to legislative efforts, fighting for the rights of palliative patients. Dr. Reyes serves on the Board of two non profits, Health-e-Charity, which sends medical mission teams throughout the world, and Avastha, a non-profit devoted to raising spiritual consciousness globally through awareness and other spiritual meditative practices.

University of California, Los Angeles
Dr. Carlo Reyes completed one of the nation's most competitive five-year dual residency programs in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at UCLA, where he served as Chief Resident. At the time, only eight such positions existed nationwide, underscoring the program's exclusivity.
1994-1998
Chicago Medical School
Dr. Reyes earned both his MD and a Master of Science in Applied Physiology in just four years from the Chicago Medical School. He graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honors, reflecting his exceptional academic achievement and strong foundation in physiology and integrative medicine.
2006-2010
Southwestern Law School
Dr. Reyes earned his Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School while working full time as an attending physician in Emergency Medicine. He was honored with multiple awards as a brief writer in national moot court competitions and served as an editor of the Law Journal.
